SPECTACULAR 3D EXPERIENCE AT GRUNDFOS

The spectacular 3D cinema showing the circulation of water was the reason why Grundfos was awarded Best Pavilion at the Expo 2008

Early 2008 Grundfos had world premiere with a high technological 3D cinema at their competence centre in Hungary. The AV-installation is a unique cooperation between Digital Projection Inc., Nuvision 3D, Seventh Sense, Informationsteknik Scandinavia and Grundfos as the customer. It is an innovative and highly technological 3D cinema, where they show the audience a unique 3D group-presentation movie in 8.5 minutes - "Inside the flow". This presentation has become a great success and therefore Grundfos wanted to expand this to the World EXPO taking place from June to September 2008.

As the Danish pump company Grundfos was one of the main sponsors and preferred supplier of World Exhibition EXPO 2008 in Zaragoza, Spain, they had their own pavilion covering an area of more than 500 m2. The main focus point of the pavilion was a 3D cinema built as a huge H2O molecule, where the big oxygen molecule makes up the eight-meter high, globular cinema. The movie, which is in full HD (1920 x 1080, 120 Hz), lasts three minutes and the visitors were invited to a three-dimensional experience of how Grundfos brings water to life.
The cinema had a capacity of 80 people at a time and during the three months one million people visited Grundfos’ pavilion that furthermore was awarded the best of the world exhibition.

The audience was very thrilled with the 3D cinema

At the entrance of the cinema, visitors received a pair of electronic 3D glasses with a special active technology. The glasses made the experience of the movie spectacular with the illusion of water running directly at you. To enhance this experience Grundfos wanted to achieve the best sound quality possible and they chose a cutting edge technology from Meyer - a surround sound solution with five channels supported by the 3D movie. The sound was extremely exact and even if the cinema was open and not well isolated, the sound stayed inside the cinema.

Grundfos was very satisfied with the exposure at the Expo, and they have already decided to take part in Shanghai 2009, where Grundfos will be part of the Danish pavilion. The Shanghai world exhibition will last for six months and is expecting 70 million visitors.
Before then they will bring the 3D equipment to the ISH 2009 exhibition in Frankfurt and to the COP15 - United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.
